I remember meeting Warnock at some event or through someone, I just never spent any significant time with him. I'll have to dig up old email archives and remember who I knew well that would have introduced me to him. Doesn't reallymatter.
Adobe was key for the Apple Laserwriter (I had one of the very first, used it for desktop publishing, having used a Xerox Star before the Macintosh came out at Strategic Planning Associates. My Professor Roger Glassey and other UC Berkeley Professors in IEOR had some of the very first NeXT boxes, because UC Berkeley, Stanford and Carnegie Mellon where the three University partners that helped launch NeXT.
On the topic of how I knew Marcelo de Andre and Ed Russo, and more context on the Nobel Sustainability Trust, see attached screenshot showing the EP3 Sustainability Fellows. I was introduced to the Nobel Sustainability Trust via Peter Knez, who was supposed to attend the Summit. He arranged a courtesy VIP invitation for my friend Karla Brollier (an alaska native advocate for indigenous peoples who worked in sustainability, impact ventures, and climate change her whole career, including for Al Gore, the UN, Patagonia, etc. Peter introduced me to Tracy J. Wang, the CEO of the Nobel Sustainability Trust for that invitation. Karla ended up going to a venture event in Santa Fe, so I ended up taking the slot instead. I invited my friends Jane Metcalfe (who lives right up the hill in Berkeley) and Iris Steine (also up in the Berkeley hills, and both of them tried to attend, but couldn't make it - but I got courtesy VIP tickets for them. I met the whole Nobel family (Peter Nobel, Erik Nobel, Stephanie Nobel, and Johan Nobel), sat at the VIP table at the front, met Yang Lan (known as the Oprah Winfrey of China, wife of Bruno Wang), met Bruno Wang, and also Marcelo, Ed Barbier, Mathis Wackernagel, Emily Weeks, and Ed Russo, Russell Le Page (Philanthropy Advisor to NST), and many others. (One was a prince of Luxemburg - we had a nice chat about my ancestors Charlegmagne, Prince William of Orange, and Sir Oliver Cromwell, and therefore our common ancestral heritage.
I've had numerous meetings with all of the people shown in the EP3 Sustainabilty Fellows page, introducing them to my other connections (e.g. Jeff Weiss, Rich Moyer, Michael McCord, and Nancy Watkins (who are the climate, sustainability, and microfinance and micro-insurance leadership of Milliman), and also pulled in Peter Knez into those conversations. Peter had been speaking at COP in Baku just prior to the Nobel Sustainability Trust summit in November 2024, and ended up staying in Dubai as he flew back, meeting with the top royals of Dubai, who ended up recruiting him as Chairman of Palm Global, which he then pulled in the top royals and sovereign wealth sources from UAE, and forming Palm Promax Investments. Peter had been working closely with Bruno Wang and the Nobel Sustainability Trust leadership, but Peter had a falling out with Bruno for economic and trust reasons, I so reconnected him with the sustainability people he knew, as well as the head of Cambridge Laboratories (Sikh guy - spacing on his name).
I later reached out to Jay Short (founding CEO and board member of EO Wilson Biodiversity Foundation), and had him introduce me to Paula Ehrlich, the current CEO of EOWBF. I met with her, Marcello, and a few others, and they all agreed to participate in the EP3 Nature & Humanity Trust initiative. Add pages for all of these people and organizations if they don't fit already.
Since I had told Karla Brollier all about the Santa Fe Institute, since she was in Santa Fe, she asked for an invitation to get a personal tour, which I arranged by reaching out to the office of the CEO.
