Loree Rodkin, the introduction chain completed, and the party contact entries

The account as dictated, preserved verbatim. Everything elsewhere on this site that derives from it is a distillation — and where the two differ, this governs.

Recorded 2026-08-17Hare's dictation, with a second contemporaneous contact-manager entry transcribed at the end. Spellings and typographical errors preserved. Telephone numbers redacted for publication; the unredacted original is held by Hare. All sources
Provenance

Dictated by Jonathan Paul Hare in working sessions with Claude (Anthropic) and transcribed in-session. Lightly cleaned for typographic errors and false starts; wording, sequence and emphasis preserved. Not an audio transcript. Where the distilled page differs from the source, the source governs.

As dictated

Below is the contact entry for Laura Rodkin, who I met through Pam Alexander's friend Jason Weinberg, who represented a bunch of stars, including Pam' friend Courtney Love. (I know they were friends, because Courtney used to call Pam quite regularly when I was hanging out with her or traveling with her - usually asking for advice on where to buy houses, or how to get out of a PR jam. Pam said that when Courtney wasn't strung out on drugs, she was very nice and extremely talented - Curt Cobain's suicide hit her really hard, apparently. Hard to record from something like that.

Anyway, Laura Rodkin introduced me to Ghislane Maxwell, since I was telling her about the Santa Fe Institute, and Laura said I should meet Ghislane, because she spent a lot of time there. Laura and I became good friends (initially because Laura knew Christy Turlington, and I spent several years chasing Christy - who was my dream girl, given she was into Buddhism and was getting a Masters in Philosophy or Eastern Religions or something like that). Laura and I had dinner in SF a few months later - she stayed at the Sherman Hotel, which is a tiny boutique 5-star hotel about a block and a half from my house at 3040 Steiner, where all sorts of celebrities and rich people stayed - they had private entrences where people could sneak in and out. This was Bill Gate's primary place to stay in SF back in those days, or so she told me.

Lauara had many clients - she managed Brad Pitt for a time, and also Robert Downey Junior in his early years. This was well before his Iron Man days. She told me he was amazing and extremely talented, but she ultimately had to drop him as a client "because I got tired of lying about his drug problems every time he got arrested."

BTW, as an aside - Pam was also friends with Martha Stewart, and Martha called Pam for PR advice when news first leaked of her insider trading problem with Merrill Lynch, and Pam told her - "Martha, you need to be talking to a criminal defense attorney, not a PR agent." She told me that in confidence at the time, because I was crashing at her various houses and we were close friends. I suppose it's okay to reveal now, since Martha has served her time.

--- My contact entry said Laura, but her name was actually Loree Rodkin. When I met her, she was mostly a high-end jewelry designer, doing customer jewelry for celebrities. She was really cool. She also represented Billy Zane, who I knew socially through Adam Dell. We once had a wild night of partying, starting at the W Hotel near Times Square. Billy (who had a full head of hair, btw) was hilarious. We had to go to Adam Dell's place on the upper west side so I could borrow some cooler clothes - I looked to corporate. I later ran into Billy Zane at an event at Stanford University, an invite-only precision medicine conference, which was heavily focused on AI and blockchain technology. By this time, BIlly was getting into the investment business - he had some sort of venture or fund down in LA. I met a few actors through him - I like to have a good time in LA.

Met at Halloween Party: Jason Weinberg: Agent to various stars, including Courtney Love. [phone number redacted for publication] Splits time between NY & LA Laurie Rodkin: [two phone numbers redacted for publication]; Formerly manager of Brad Pitt, knows Christy Turlington, coming to SF in early December, staying at Sherman House Ghisleila (sp) Maxwell: [phone number redacted for publication]; Robert Maxwell's daughter, house in Santa Fe, friends with Murray Gel Man. Socialite (brought Prince Andrew to the party)

Editorial record

Two corrections are established by this record and are published rather than silently applied. First: the woman recorded as 'Laura Rodkin' in S-053 and in the earlier contact entry is Loree Rodkin — the contact entries spell her Laura and Laurie; Hare's 2026 statement corrects the name. Second: the introduction chain to Ghislaine Maxwell now has its order — Pam Alexander's friend Jason Weinberg introduced Hare to Rodkin, and it was Rodkin who introduced Hare to Maxwell, after Hare described the Santa Fe Institute and Rodkin said Maxwell spent a lot of time there. The vignette derived from S-053 originally named the three as an unordered chain; it has been corrected to this ordering. The second contact entry transcribed above confirms all three were met at the Halloween party, and independently repeats the Santa Fe house, the Gell-Mann friendship, and that Maxwell brought Prince Andrew — with her name misspelled again ('Ghisleila (sp)'), the writer marking his own uncertainty at the time. Five telephone numbers appearing in the original were redacted before publication as a privacy measure; the redactions are marked in place and the unredacted original is held by Hare. The Bill Gates claim about Sherman House is Rodkin's statement as Hare recalls it, and is recorded as such. The open question from S-053 — the identity of the colleague 'Ed' — is not resolved by this record. Reconciliation, 24 August 2026: this record was originally entered under the number S-054, which was already held by the contact-manager entry; it is renumbered S-102 so every record carries a unique citation. The text is unchanged.
