The Leidos champion offered the introduction; the thread went to Dohrmann and Kaplan first, on Singer's advice
This is Jonathan Hare's account, with its provenance shown. The person or organization named has not yet claimed or corrected it.
Bob Sternfels is McKinsey's Global Managing Partner, and his name titles the 2024 thread (S-074) because a long-term champion — the former VP of Strategy & Business Development for Healthcare at Leidos, for whom Sternfels and Scott Blackburn had jointly led a strategy study — offered Jonathan Hare the introduction. On Marc Singer's advice, Hare went first to his existing relationships, Dohrmann and Kaplan, before looping upward. The record holds Sternfels at that junction: the summit of the firm, one warm introduction away, with the relationship owners named in the connections map (S-076).
S-083 confirms the champion and sharpens the detail: the introduction was Kat Mahan's to make — Sternfels had personally worked the Leidos strategy engagement before becoming Global Managing Partner — and it paused when her mother's illness took her to Arizona. The path remains mapped, and the record notes why it was the right path: Hare's internal McKinsey contacts do not make upward internal referrals; the summit is reached from the client side.
