McKinsey keeps supplying this record's rooms: a transition session, a CISO summit, and a birthday meeting

Never Hare's client, always in the corridor: Dohrmann, Kaplan, Singer, Mendonca — and the 2026 reintroduction

About this entry

This is Jonathan Hare's account, with its provenance shown. The person or organization named has not yet claimed or corrected it.

Organization

What this is

Jonathan Hare has never been a McKinsey client, and the firm nonetheless threads through the record for decades — because its partners kept being in the rooms that mattered. Thomas Dohrmann in the 2008 Obama transition session; James Kaplan convening the CISO summit that started the Aetna decade; Marc Singer, the Stanford GSB friend who tracked the work for years and made the 2026 reintroduction; Lenny Mendonca, met through the family graph before Hare knew who he was. The connections list published as S-076 shows the current breadth. The record notes what the pattern means: the firm's partners are professionally selected for being where consequential decisions get made, which makes them, collectively, one of the record's recurring corridors — and, in the outreach now underway, one of its Pioneer Principal targets.

One structural observation from S-083, worth its place on the firm's page: Hare's internal contacts at McKinsey do not make upward internal referrals — the firm's culture routes credibility sideways and down, not up — so the path to the Global Managing Partner ran through the client side, in the person of Kat Mahan at Leidos. A record that maps corridors should note where the corridors refuse to run.
