I met Kathleen (Kat) Mahan when we both served on the Markle Foundation Personal Health Technology Council, organized by Carol Diamond, David Lansky, and Zoe Baird. Esther Dyson reached out to David Lansky to have me appointed, shortly after i attended Esther's Personal Health Technology conference (or some similar title), which was held in NYC around 2006 or so at the New School. I met everyone who was anyone in personal health there, and also folks like Tim Andrews, Jamie Heywood (who founded PatientsLikeMe with his brother Ben, and also founded the ALS Therapy Development Institute). I also met Paul Meyer through Esther - he had worked on a mobile health app called Voxiva, later Text4Baby, The Commons Project Foundation, Smart Health Network PBC, etc.
At Markle I met Eric Sachs, Kat Mahan, Kate Berry, Jim Karkanias, and many others. Kat Mahan was a champion of ours at every one of her roles beginning at SureScripts and thereafter (see her experience entries from LinkedIn below. At Leidos she ran healthcare strategy, and subsequently offered a direct introduction to Bob Sternfels, who had personally worked on a strategy engagement for Leidos before he became the managing general partner at McKinsey, and also pulled in Scott Blackburn, who had taken a stint as VA CIO or something like that during the first Trump administration. Kat was going to make an intro directly to Bob (my internal contacts at McKinsey don't make upwards internal referrals), but then her mother was taken ill so she moved back to Arizona to take care of her.

This record confirms the identification the Kat Mahan page had flagged for Hare's ruling: she is the Leidos champion of S-074's first line, and the confirmation closes that ask the day after it was filed. It also explains why the Sternfels introduction stalled — her mother fell ill and she moved to Arizona to care for her — and records Hare's structural observation about why the introduction mattered: his internal McKinsey contacts do not make upward internal referrals, so the path to the Global Managing Partner ran through the client side. Her LinkedIn's own featured media documents her public championship of Resilient's identity-and-authentication overlay at Health 2.0 in Fall 2010, independent corroboration of Hare's 'champion at every role' claim. The Markle Foundation Personal Health Technology Council and Esther Dyson's ~2006 New School conference enter the record as the origin of the whole thread: Dyson reached out to David Lansky to have Hare appointed.
