Lawful by construction — regulated and personal data safely usable at global scale, with every right continuously enforced.
This topic carries part of the argument of the Consilient Manifesto — the universal call to action. ← Back to the call
The classical regime forces a choice between compliance and utility, and resolves it by making compliance a cost center that shrinks what can be done. Regulated, proprietary and personal data — the most valuable data there is — sits unusable behind the choice.
Universal Compliance dissolves the choice: privacy, cybersecurity, regulatory and contractual rights are properties of the substrate, enforced continuously in the computation itself — so the data can work without anyone's rights being traded away. It is the Universal that unlocks the one after it.
The invoice for its absence is precise: a canceled incident-capture layer at BP, and a decade later a disaster whose accounting runs between $65 and $145 billion. Compliance as afterthought is the most expensive design decision in the record.
One graph, four projections — the story where this was learned, the invention that delivers it, the vision claim it serves, and what it becomes in the Era of Abundance.
$65–145B for a missing layer.
