The sweetest love; the only official fiancée; the only remaining Consilient Angel — and a twenty-year silence kept on principle
This is Jonathan Hare's account, with its provenance shown. The person or organization named has not yet claimed or corrected it.
Olchi Skant is, in Jonathan Hare's words exactly, his sweetest love — and holds three distinctions no one else in this record holds. She is the only woman he ever proposed marriage to while in possession of a ring, on bended knee, in the Stanford Quad, at his Stanford GSB reunion; the proposal was accepted, which made her his only official fiancée. (He confesses, in the source record and at his own expense, that there were a few others where the sheer power of the moment forced a declaration of undying love and openness to marriage — none of which progressed, because they either didn't believe him, or he remembered that his mission to save the world forbade him such indulgences.) And she is the only remaining Consilient Angel — a term Hare defined for the record only after this page first guessed wrong: not an angel investor, but a friend or love who backed the journey in its true currencies, companionship and belief. Her investment, in his words exactly, was loving him back.
Her own story, as Hare tells it and as she is invited to tell better: she is originally from Belarus, and escaped to Austria on foot as a teenager, without her loving family, in the era when the USSR issued its citizens internal passports that permitted no international travel — her incredible beauty, in Hare's phrase, serving as the one international passport recognized worldwide by nearly every country. In Austria she married her first two boyfriends, a survival chapter the record carries in his telling and hers to correct; and she danced in clubs — on the little elevated stages common in the coolest bars and nightclubs across Europe and the world's resorts, in nightclub attire, dancing by herself so that everyone had someone beautiful to admire. Americans, Hare notes, won't be familiar with the institution. Europeans will.
The next chapter of the survival story arrived in a follow-up dictation (S-088), and it upgrades the record: Olchi made money working as a model, and the modeling career earned her a five-year H1-B visa — granted, in Hare's delighted framing, because her beauty was considered extraordinary and therefore displaced no American beauties from the fashion industry, the most beautiful American models mostly working in Europe anyway, in what he describes as an internal trading system for models. (The framing is comic; the mechanism is real — US law routed fashion models of distinguished merit through exactly that visa category.) Hare's broader testimony about the world she navigated is in the source record with its proportions kept — exploitation named, most such women becoming neighbors and colleagues, and his own ethic stated: he doesn't ask questions of people who don't volunteer their stories. The teenager who crossed borders on foot ended up crossing the biggest one on documented, extraordinary merit.
The story was beautiful, and interrupted for twenty years until recently — and the interruption was chosen, which is the part of this page that is entirely Hare's to tell. She is now married, with three beautiful children, living in the mountains near Santa Cruz, and for twenty years he did not see her because he feared he could not resist her, and did not want to be the cause of marital troubles. His summary of the ethics, verbatim because it is the house voice at full strength: I have principles, and sometimes physical absence is the only path to abstinence. I choose that path quite often.
A standing note that overrides every other convention on this page: Olchi's account is invited entirely on her own terms — to correct, reshape, or withdraw this page altogether, on her word alone.
A dated chapter arrives (S-100): the inaugural All Things Digital conference — D1, Carlsbad, 2003 — where Olchi accompanied Hare through the corridor in which he met Jobs, Gates, Page, Brin, Case, Diller and Glaser without moving fifteen feet, alongside Narry Singh and Tina Berne. Her care settings govern here as everywhere on this record.
S-101 adds the detail the Angels page was waiting for, and the era's sweetest joke. The 2026 outreach: emerging from six months of total social isolation — working intensely with AI to document and patent the Consilient architecture — Hare reached out to his former girlfriends of the 1995–2012 era to invite them to become Consilient Angels. And when he asked Olchi whether she remembered the Carlsbad conference and who they had met there — Jobs, Gates, Page, Brin, all of them — she thought for a moment and replied: “Oh yeah — I met your friend, the Texas guy.” She meant Adam Dell. The record considers this the correct valuation of billionaires and preserves it as such.
