Alisa Mall was the reason I introduced myself to Adam Dell — she now runs Michael Dell's family office

Stanford Law, the 1998 SFI reception, Carnegie Corporation, Foresite — and today CIO of DFO Management

About this entry

This is Jonathan Hare's account, with its provenance shown. The person or organization named has not yet claimed or corrected it.

Person

Who this is

Alisa Mall was in her final year at Stanford Law at the 1998 Santa Fe Institute trustees reception where Jonathan Hare, wanting to meet her, introduced himself to the young man beside her whose name tag read 'Adam' in large letters and 'Dell' in smaller ones — a pretext that produced one of his closest friendships. Her own trajectory is the record's evidence for what passed through those rooms: nearly twelve years as a Managing Director of Investments at the Carnegie Corporation of New York, a Managing Director role at Foresite Capital, and today Chief Investment Officer of DFO Management — Michael Dell's family office. The pretext aged well on every axis.
