Everyone's mathematics, everyone's law — and no culture's alone

Place-value notation and the concept of zero from India, transmitted through the Arabic-speaking world. Algebra from al-Khwarizmi, whose name is the word algorithm. Babylonian base-sixty, still keeping our hours and our degrees. Egyptian surveying and the mathematics of the flood. Chinese remainder theorem and the earliest systematic work on negative numbers. Greek deductive proof — Pythagoras, Euclid, Archimedes — and the Roman idea that law could be written down, applied uniformly, and extended to people who were not Roman.
None of it belongs to anyone. It arrived by trade, translation, conquest, migration, and copying, and it is now inside every calculation any person on earth performs. That is a real, traceable, universal inheritance, and it does not require a genealogy.
Each entry below carries its own provenance — the source, and how it was processed. That is the condition on which this graph can be extended by anyone without degrading.
The trail exists so that people who were there can reconstruct their own memories, recognize what they helped incubate, and add to or correct the record — or forward the few pages that belong to someone they know.
The same record carries the opposite. Conquest, slaughter and genocide are not the property of any one people or faith. The Akkadians and the Hittites. The Mongols under Genghis. Attila. The Vikings and the Rus. The Khmer, the Maya, the Inca, the Zulu. Islamic expansion by conquest across three continents. Christian expansion the same way — Spanish and Portuguese, French, Dutch, English. The Poles and the Swedes in their turn.
It is a recurring and timeless trait of humanity, older than any surviving religion, and every culture large enough to have had the opportunity has taken it.
It is only with the Enlightenment that human society began climbing toward a less brutal arrangement — and that climb is recent, partial, and not guaranteed to continue.
This architecture is described elsewhere as a coordination layer. What it coordinates is a species that has been sharing mathematics and murdering each other, in roughly equal measure, for the whole of recorded history — and which has never once solved the problem of cooperating at scale without someone holding a lever over everyone else.
Rome placed the guarantee in an empire. Christendom placed it in a church. The Enlightenment placed it in reason and then in the nation-state. Each worked while the holder held, and failed when it did not. The claim of this record is that the guarantee can be placed somewhere that has no holder at all.
