Attached is an email exchange after Esther Dyson and/or Tom Tauzin connected me to between me, Peter Diamandis (founder of the X-Prize foundation), Esther, John Clippinger, and Vijay Goel on the topic of the X-Prize Foundation's first X-Prize for Health. Esther made the connection, as Peter was looking to add an X-Prize specifically for health couldn't figure out what the prize should be for. they already had one for genomics (easy - just cheap sequencing). Vijay Goel was hired to lead the program, and I met with him a bunch of times.
Below is an email where I tried to introduce Adeo Ressi with my friend Narry Singh in 2009. Adeo changed his email fairly frequently - and the one he had for me (jonathan@hare.com), which was my primary email for 15 years was stolen from me about a couple of years later - I leased the email from a company called NetIdentity (or something) that had bought up a bunch of domain names for sir names, and me and my whole family used it. Then, a UK company called the William Hare Group bought the domain for $500k, and one day my email just stopped working. It was a gigantic pain - right in the middle of a financing push, and zero notice. The terms of service said that they would never sell the domain, but they couldn't refuse that much money. I was so pissed - I called Esther Dyson (who was the first Chairman of ICANN) and had her introduce me to the then current President and CEO of ICANN, Rod Beckstrom, who happened to be a year ahead of me at Stanford GSB, and also Scott Sandell's former boss. I knew him slightly from the GSB, but Esther got him to talk to me. There was nothing he could do (because ICANN only controls the root domain servers for the internet, they don't issue .com domains. It was good to reconnect with him - we got to know each other a bit better, and I visited him on his boat in Santa Cruz Marina in 2019 with my friend Kaja Travnik (who spent the summer crashing at my place in SF training for the Iron Man Triathalon, and was a great travel buddy - we went to Yosemite (stayed at the Ahwannee hotel), and all over the northern and central california and the coast - Pebble Beach, Monterrey, Santa Cruz, etc. Kaja is going to help us with Slovenia (she's a technology lawyer, a yoga instructor, a health influencer, and knows everyone in Slovenia. I'll see if she can connect us to Melania Trump.)

He was appointed President and CEO of ICANN in June 2009 and served until his contract concluded in mid-2012. Before ICANN he was director of the U.S. National Cybersecurity Center and co-authored The Starfish and the Spider.

Three threads. First, the X-Prize for Health: the Dyson (and possibly Tauzin) connection to Diamandis's foundation as it sought its first health prize — the genomics prize having been easy ('just cheap sequencing') — with Vijay Goel hired to lead and multiple Hare meetings following; the primary thread is S-122, Goel's own timeline S-123.
