Founder of the X-Prize Foundation — looking for a health prize that was harder to name than genomics
This is Jonathan Hare's account, with its provenance shown. The person or organization named has not yet claimed or corrected it.
Founder of the X PRIZE Foundation, on the January 2009 thread (S-122) as the foundation sought its first health prize — genomics having been the easy one ('just cheap sequencing,' in Jonathan Hare's framing), while health resisted definition. Esther Dyson, and possibly Tom Tauzin, made the connection; Vijay Goel ran the program; and the thread preserves Dyson's one-line discipline on what a prize is: criteria, not the specs of a solution.
