He is the one who named Jonathan Hare 'Hare-Brain', and the one who said you need to meet this guy about David Marquardt.
Sectionmates at the GSB — a section being roughly eighty students who take every core course together, so they knew each other far better than ordinary classmates — and friends since. Wyc went on to become the longtime owner of the Boston Celtics (S-110).

Grousbeck was well connected and knew Marquardt was on Microsoft's board. He arranged the meeting and proposed they do a class project for one of Marquardt's portfolio companies. Hare, in his own words a commune boy, did not know what a venture capitalist was — had never encountered the concept. It was 1990; the tech sector was in the toilet and only Apple and Microsoft drew any attention at all.
