Victoria Vaughn was Sandra Smith's best — and, by Jonathan Hare's account, most beautiful — friend, and Vince Vaughn's sister. The three of them hung out together socially through the Consilient years, which means Hare spent a great deal of time one handshake from one of the era's biggest comedy stars and never took the handshake: he heard all about Vince from Sandra and Victoria, and that was the whole of it. Victoria was in the industry in her own right — associate producer on The Break-Up, small roles in Couples Retreat and The Dilemma — and served in the U.S. Army Reserve, a detail the record includes because it is the kind of detail that survives checking. When Sandra later moved to Los Angeles to produce for Vince's company, the friendship had become the career, which is how these things are supposed to work.
