Tullan Holmqvist was the first girlfriend Jonathan Hare ever brought to meet his family — no one preceded her because the family was unconventional enough that he worried people would go into shock. Tullan was immune, and he should have predicted it: her own upbringing was similarly colorful, her mother read tarot cards and believed, as far as he could tell, in everything, which he found charming. She loved him, she said, because he accepted her and her family exactly as they were — and of course he did; they reminded him of the cabin, of his mother, and of home. She stood beside him, hugging him — they always hugged — through the entire evening of Milton's announcement, recorded in full in the burning-bush episode.
