Stanford GSB professor of management, best known for work on strategy-making as an evolutionary process within firms — closer to this architecture's concerns than the syllabus suggests. He taught the core strategy course Jonathan Hare took in autumn 1990, and was among his favorites.
He and Grove collaborated on research from 1989 and taught together for many years afterwards — but not in spring 1991, when he was away and Garth Saloner co-taught with Grove instead.
