Two threads from the 17 August transcript that S-072 did not capture, now recorded because the site's navigation owed them pages: Doug Merritt — one of Hare's best friends, met at PC Forum while running PeopleSoft's HR group, who moved to SAP rather than remain under Oracle's acquisition and sponsored Hare's work up the SAP organization — and Bill McDermott, whose federal/DC group Hare's work engaged separately, in the era of a GSA federal-technology-acquisitions dispute the transcript recalls loosely. The pincer structure — product-side sponsorship through Merritt, go-to-market through McDermott's federal organization, entered independently — is Hare's own description of how large-company deals actually got done. Public arcs for context: Merritt later CEO of Splunk and then Aviatrix; McDermott later CEO of SAP and then ServiceNow. Verbatim disfluencies preserved.
