Steve Wozniak: the third teenager on an HP line in this record

Designing HP calculators when he built the Apple I; the engineer's engineer of the film's cast

About this entry

Person

Who this is

Apple co-founder — the role the film's own credits give, and all this page takes from the public record. In this record for one stated reason: Steve Wozniak is one of the twenty-two credited narrators of the Silicon Valley Historical Association's Steve Jobs: Visionary Entrepreneur, and Jonathan Hare records having met and having connections to him (S-183). Where, when and through whom are not yet on the record; Hare's earlier account (S-182) is that most of these connections ran through Laurene Powell Jobs. The page is a placeholder that says so, and an invitation to either side to fill it.

The public record, at web grade. The engineer who designed the Apple I and Apple II — the machines that made Apple — while employed at Hewlett-Packard designing calculators; HP famously declined the computer five times before he left. The US Festivals, decades of teaching and philanthropy, the Medal of Technology, and a standing role as Silicon Valley's engineer's engineer. In this record's network: he is the third figure on an HP line in this record — Jobs on the frequency-counter line, Hare on the Santa Rosa instruments line (the HP Way), and Wozniak inside the calculator division — three formations in the same company's shadow, a decade apart each.
