The marketing counsel behind Intel's and Apple's rises; 'Regis McKenna, himself' — the man who positioned the Valley
This is Jonathan Hare's account, with its provenance shown. The person or organization named has not yet claimed or corrected it.
Apple's early marketing and public-relations counsel — the role the film's own credits give, and all this page takes from the public record. In this record for one stated reason: Regis McKenna is one of the twenty-two credited narrators of the Silicon Valley Historical Association's Steve Jobs: Visionary Entrepreneur, and Jonathan Hare records having met and having connections to him (S-183). Where, when and through whom are not yet on the record; Hare's earlier account (S-182) is that most of these connections ran through Laurene Powell Jobs. The page is a placeholder that says so, and an invitation to either side to fill it.
The public record, at web grade. The founder of Regis McKenna Inc., the marketing and public-relations counsel who shaped Intel's microprocessor story and took a two-man Apple to the world — the 1984 Macintosh launch bears his firm's craft — and whose The Regis Touch and Relationship Marketing codified the positioning discipline the Valley still uses. His business card read 'Regis McKenna, Himself.' In this record's network: he is the connective tissue of the film's whole cast — the man professionally responsible for how Jobs's story was told — and the standing proof of the record's own working premise, from the Consilient renaming onward, that the narrative layer is infrastructure, not decoration.
