If an action or a thought could not survive appearing on the front page, it is unethical. A strictly functional moral compass that bypasses subjective religious framing entirely — and, Hare says, the reason he has never been able to lie or hold a manipulative secret comfortably.
The Ethics Premium is the Wall Street Journal Test made structural. A record published with its provenance, open to correction, with the failures included, is the same rule applied to an institution rather than a person: build the thing so that front-page exposure would reveal nothing you had not already published.
