Aaron Alter, the fast-track associate who wouldn't close the checks

Harvard JD-MBA, fifth-year at WSGR — right lawyer, per Hare's account, for a different kind of company

About this entry

This is Jonathan Hare's account, with its provenance shown. The person or organization named has not yet claimed or corrected it.

Person

Who this is

Aaron Alter was the fifth-year Wilson Sonsini associate — a Harvard JD-MBA on the fast track to partner — assigned to Evolve's routine work, whose refusal to draft stock purchase agreements while a frivolous cease-and-desist hung in the air froze a financing the startup needed to survive the month. Jonathan Hare's account frames it as fit, not competence: Harvard people think like corporate people, and the wild-west judgment a cowboy startup runs on is a different discipline. His side is invited, per the record's standing convention. The episode tells it in full.
