The historian of technology — author of the book documenting Project Orion, his father Freeman Dyson's nuclear-pulse propulsion design — and Esther Dyson's older brother. In this record he is the necessary condition for one of its best dinners: a close personal friend of Neal Stephenson, he brought the publicity-averse author to PC Forum 2004, which is how the Gobi-dry hour and the Mars ambush (S-116, S-120) happened at all.
